The Grounds

Click on the arrow to watch our slideshow and discover the beauty and peace of Healing Ground. This property is a blessing that is an integral part of the ministries we offer.  In fact, it was the land that inspired the original hammered dulcimer piece, “Grounded,” by Joshua H. Varner that accompanies the slideshow.

For personal and small group retreats, Healing Ground offers studio space in a renovated horse barn that includes space for arts and crafts, a small kitchen area, and room for a group of 15 people to meet in comfortable chairs and a sofa with open views of the gardens. There is a half-bath in the studio. The old hay loft is now a beautiful meditation loft and bedroom with a beautiful view overlooking the meadow, hardwood grove and pond. The outdoor chapel, constructed of cedar timbers and furnished with restored 100 year old walnut pews is a favorite place for reflection, worship and rituals.

We have a large deck overlooking the gardens and ponds that is available for your use. Healing Ground does not provide meals, but the kitchen in the studio is available and local caterers can accommodate group needs. See the FAQs for catering possibilities.

Fellow proponents of sustainability practices will appreciate our organic vegetable garden, compost bins, root cellar, rain barrels, our rain garden that helps return run-off to the water table, and our riparian garden at the edge of the pond which filters run-off. Nearly three acres of water, woods and meadows with beautiful landscaping, a labyrinth, an outdoor chapel, and a variety of areas for meditation, prayer walking, relaxing, fire circle conversations, and small group activities quickly let you know you are walking on holy ground.
